Letting the Cat out of the Bag

Well, I suppose it was bound to happen anyway. Dalton and I had a little secret, which, for better or worse, he dropped a reasonably significant hint about it yesterday. So, this morning Michelle asks about Dalton's little comment and I had to come clean.

I'm big on surprises (the good kind, mind you - not too fond of bad ones), and so, for our anniversary, I had plotted a surprise for Michelle, consisting of a visit to Dublin. I had bought the airline tickets, booked the hotel room, the whole nine, and had even started to pack a few clothes away in the bedside drawer so that I could pop the whole thing on her at very short notice. That, obviously, didn't quite work out, so while we'll still be going, it won't be as much of a surprise. Still, she was surprised.

Dalton, unfortunately, was saddened that he couldn't keep the secret. However, in his defense, he had been keeping it for at least a week or so, and maybe even longer. He did much better than I had expected. But I still had to console him, and reassure him that he did a good job. Now, if only everyone will cooperate in Dublin...
