Yesterday was supposed to be our "clean up" day, since the house has more or less exploded into giant piles of mess all about. For better or for worse, that never happened. Instead, the sun came out, and was shining brilliantly, and the weather was rather warm for the first time in several weeks. Michelle and I just couldn't force ourselves to stay inside and clean when it was so nice outside. So we started our lounging in our back garden, and as lunchtime neared, we decided that it would be a perfect day for visiting The Inn on the Pond, a little pub which is about a fifteen minute walk from our house. We made a couple of sandwiches for the kids and hiked over.
It was glorious bliss to be sitting outside in the warm sun at the picnic table having lunch and a pint. Apparently everyone else in the area had the same idea as the place was soon packed. After lunch we checked out the puddings, which you can look at as well, if you only click on the link above. We opted for the sticky date pudding with the clotted cream, to share, and words fail to say how incredibly good it was. I'm going to have to find a recipe for this stuff. I've found that no matter what else you may say about the Brits, they know how to make a pudding.
We slowly meandered back, and popped our heads around to see the horses at the nearby farm, and took some additional photos of the cute little cottages nearby, all of which you can find below. There's also some photos from the walk that Dalton and I took earlier today.
On a totally unrelated subject, Mich and I were sitting back last night and watched part of Wedding Date. The only reason that I've ever seen or heard of it before is that it was on one night when I was out of town, I caught the last five minutes and the credits while I was waiting for something else to come on, and it was the first time I'd heard Michael Buble. I thought he sounded good enough that I went and bought the album. Anyway, so we're watching, and Michelle asks where it was filmed. Turns out it was partly filmed in Shere, which, in case you're keeping track, is also where The Holiday was filmed, and it's about fifteen miles or so from here. When I was looking that up, I found out that The Princess Bride was partially set at Hever Castle. I am now determined to hunt down films made in the general vicinity, or in places that I've been and make a post about it. Keep tuned...
