The Pub Crawl

When Michelle and I made our lists, I later went back and combined them, and found that we actually had only 42 things combined. I'll put up the updated combined list later, but when Wednesday night rolled around, I was able to mark one more thing off of my list: the pub crawl. This was especially important to me, since, to date, Michelle has actually visited more pubs than I have. When visiting the Eagle & Child in Oxford, we picked up a brochure about various pubs spotted throughout the country, including several in London. We later found the ale trail website (here). And so, Wednesday evening, my brother-in-law and I decided to hit the streets of London for some pubs. We first went in hunt of the BBC gift shop, which after inquiring at the headquarters of the BBC, we determined was non-existent.

Since we were up that way, we simply stopped off at The Wellington, and had our first pints of the evening on the Strand. We then headed to Covent Garden for a quick walkthrough, and then we hit The Coal Hole, which actually used to be the coal cellar of the Savoy Hotel. We grabbed dinner there, which was steak and ale pie, and quite tasty. We made another stop at The Princess of Wales for a quick pint, and then walked along the riverbank back to London Bridge station (which is probably at least a mile and a half stroll), making our final stop for the evening at The Mudlark.

Wednesday also marked Dalton's last day of school - have I mentioned that school schedules are different here? Dalton got a certificate of achievement for his hard work this year - apparently only three children in each year get one, so we were quite proud of him. In September, he'll go into Year Four (third grade). I think Dalton was beginning to get a little stir-crazy, since he was used to getting out of school in May, and I think everyone is looking forward to a little "down time".

Oh, yeah, one more thing... I almost forgot. Maggie lost another tooth this past Friday, and she's got a nice big gap in her front teeth right now. The other front tooth is loose as well, but don't know when it will come out.

When I zoomed into the Stonehenge family portrait earlier in the week, I noticed that big gap in her front teeth! How cute!
