I hear that Alabama needs rain. Here, the northern part of England has been experiencing floods, and today was the first day that it has been mostly sunny for probably the last week and a half. Seriously, I think it clouded up the Sunday night that we were coming back from Warwick Castle, and hasn't really cleared up significantly since. It has also been rather chilly the last couple of days - today, the high was 59F. So, quite a contrast from the summers that we're used to. While I won't say that we want the humidity and the 90-plus degree weather, I do think some warm weather would be nice.
So, this past weekend, I had harbored hopes of heading into London for a little sightseeing, but as it rained pretty much all day Saturday and Sunday, we ended up staying inside pretty much all weekend, looking at each other. Good thing we're all so good looking! (Please note: I was going to take that out, but Michelle says she likes it, so there it is.)
My work has been taking me out to Bracknell for a couple of days each week the past couple of weeks, which is west of London. In order to get there, I have to take the train into London, and then take another train out, which makes my commute somewhere around an hour and a half to two hours one way, depending on how the trains are running that day. Needless to say, that's not too much fun, but on the other hand, it does give me plenty (and I do mean plenty) of time for reading. I've now polished off Ethan Frome, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, and (today) Wuthering Heights. Unfortunately, Michelle informed me today that the local library doesn't have any classics, and so I'll have to try to figure out what to do next.
I think the lack of ability to go outside is making the kids (and Michelle) a little stir crazy. Dalton keeps informing anyone of us who will listen (and even if we won't) of all the latest developments that he has discovered in his Star Wars computer game, while Maggie is... Maggie. She still flits about, just as careless as ever. Nothing ever seems to phase her.
So, in summary, nothing exciting, unless you really like rain.
