Wide Awake in America

We made it back safe and sound this past Thursday, having somehow managed the amazing feat of packing most of our stuff into seven checked bags and six carry-ons, and keeping all the bags under the weight limit. There were several challenging moments, mainly concerning how we, being a family of four comprised of two adults and two children, could maneuver seven bags weighing around 40 - 45 pounds apiece through airports, while hanging on to our other bags. All that being said, we did make it, landing at the Birmingham airport around 3:30 pm local time (that's 9:30 UK time).

Since then, we've mainly been trying to get things ready for the move into our house. We're getting there, and while it will be some time before everything gets unpacked and put in its proper place, we're off to a decent start. We're still suffering from the impact of jet lag - although the kids at least seem to be sleeping later this morning, having woken at three and four the last two mornings. I'll put a longer post later to catch everyone up on our Irish excursion, and other "settling in" stuff, but that's all for now.
