The week was, for me, mostly consumed by my work trip to Amsterdam. I left on Wednesday night and returned last night. Unfortunately, it was a typical work trip, which means that I had little time for sightseeing. I did manage to make it in to the old city on Thursday night, but didn't make it in until 9, and spent a large portion of my time eating dinner. Still, it looked like a neat city, and I did manage to get a couple of photos to come out. I basically walked from the station to the restaurant and back, just taking pictures of whatever I saw along the way, so I don't really know any of the history.
Maggie and Dalton had school assembly on Friday, which I unfortunately missed due to aforesaid work trip. School assembly is basically where the children get up in front of everyone and show what they have learned. As I noted, I missed it, so I don't know what they did, although Mich did tell me that Dalton sang a song in French. I would have been interested to go, if only to try and find out what or whose accent the kids are picking up, as they both have small little English accents now. Not particularly strong, I don't think, but just the phrasing of their words, the rhythm and the lilt in their voices when they say things. It's not always there, but it is definitely there. That being said, there's a variety of accents out there, so it could just be a muddled version of several different accents put together.
Yesterday, we ended up taking the bus to Reigate, and picnicking in Priory Park, which is a nice little playground that the kids adored. Dalton probably ended up spending an hour or more on the swingset, while Maggie did a little of everything. We also saw "Reigate Castle", which, since we failed to bring the camera, we didn't have pictures, however, you can see it in all its glory here. Actually, I think I was the only one who was seeing it for the first time.
Today is Mother's Day in the UK, and shortly, I will begin making breakfast for Mich, despite the fact that Dalton told her a week or so ago that she didn't deserve two Mother's Days (as she will have two due to the discrepancy of when the days are in the UK and the US). Mich asked which one she did deserve, and Dalton said he supposed this one, since he had to make stuff for her at school. I imagine we'll still celebrate Mother's Day in the US as well.
Otherwise, not much to tell - the week has been beautiful and sunny, and the flowers are starting to blossom, which means it's just that much more beautiful here.
