With apologies for taking so long to put up my ten songs, here they are, in no particular order:

1. Here Comes the Flood, Peter Gabriel - I think this one made it on my favorite thirty songs list, so not particularly surprising to find it here.
2. Iris, Goo Goo Dolls - "I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand, when everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am."
3. Something I Can Never Have, NIN - This and Hurt have to be some of his better songs.
4. I Dreamed a Dream, Les Miserables - A song that can be interpreted in many ways, but the basics are in the line, "But there are dreams that cannot be and there are storms we cannot weather."
5. Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye), Chris Botti - No words, just genuinely moving music.
6. He's My Son, Mark Schultz - This one is probably a little bit cheesy, but I heard this the first time shortly before Dalton got his first set of tubes. The whole feeling of wanting to be able to do anything to take away the fear and the pain resonated deeply.
7. Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand - This one always gets me. I usually make it through a verse or so before I get a lump in my throat and just have to stop.
8. Brothers in Arms, Dire Straits - Another song that can be interpreted ubiquitously, but definitely one that puts me solidly into a melancholy mood.
9. If God Would Send His Angels, U2 - I'm not going to say anything about this one, because it's a U2 song, and that's Michelle's arena.
10. Secret World, Peter Gabriel - I tried to keep from double-dipping, but simply couldn't avoid it.

Other honourable mentions:
Roger Waters - Three Wishes, Amused to Death
U2 - Love is Blindness
K's Choice - Live for Real, Shadowman
MCR - I Don't Love You
