Just Because We Speak the "Same" Language...

We’re one, but we are not the same. 30 words that are not the same.

1. An eggplant is an aubergine.
2. A zucchini is a courgette.
3. Chips are crisps.
4. Fries are chips.
5. Shrimp are prawns.
6. Squash is a drink, kind of like Kool-aid.
7. Jello is jelly.
8. A sweatshirt is a jumper.
9. Pants are underwear.
10. Sick means vomiting, so if you aren’t vomiting, then you are just ill.
11. Tennis shoes are trainers.
12. Strollers are pushchairs or prams.
13. Pacifers are called dummies.
14. A nursery is called crèche.
15. A diaper is a nappy.
16. Ladybugs are ladybirds.
17. Vacations are holidays.
18. Your yard is your garden.
19. Take out is take-away.
20. Soccer is football.
21. Sidewalks are pavements.
22. Supper/dinner can be called supper, dinner, or tea.
23. 7-up or Sprite is called lemonade.
24. Lemonade is lemon squash.
25. To rent is to let.
26. An elevator is a lift.
27. The first floor is the ground floor.
28. A grocery buggy is a trolley.
29. A flashlight is a torch.
30. A dessert is a pudding.

Honorable mention- a fanny-pack (as in one of those little bags you wear around your waist usually when traveling) takes on a whole new meaning here. Fanny does not mean your backside here and I’ll refrain from saying what it is, but it would be in your best interest not to use the word unless you want to get some funny looks.
