As most of you know, I love pretty much all things Irish, so I thought I would share 30 Irish proverbs with you. Slainte!

1. Where the tongue slips, it speaks the truth.

2. It is not a secret if it is known by three people.

3. Beware of people who dislike cats.

4. Better the coldness of a friend than the sweetness of an enemy.

5. May your anger set with the sun and not rise again with it.

6. If a man fools me once, shame on him; if he fools me twice, shame on me.

7. May you never forget what is worth remembering, or remember what is best forgotten.

8. When you are right no one remembers; when you are wrong no one forgets.

9. Firelight will not let you read fine stories, but it's warm and won't let you see the dust on the floor.

10. Bricks and mortar make a house, but the laughter of children make a home.

11. There is no luck except where there is discipline.

12. Say but little, and say it well.

13. Every eye forms its own fancy.

14. God is good, but never dance in a small boat.

15. A glutton lives to eat; a wise man eats to live.

16. May the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past.

17. It is no time to go for the doctor when the patient is dead.

18. A silent mouth is sweet to hear.

19. Patience can conquer destiny.

20. An old broom knows the dirty corners best.

21. There is not a tree in heaven higher than the tree of patience.

22. The older the fiddle the sweeter the tune.

23. You'll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind.

24. Poor men take to the sea; the rich to the mountains.

25. You must empty a box before you fill it again.

26. Time is a good story-teller.

27. The stars make no noise.

28. The seeking for one thing will find another.

29. It destroys the craft not to learn it.

And finally, my favorite one.....
30. Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.
