Fascinating Facts

Some time ago, back when I was alone here in London, I was pestering anyone who might be reading this thing to respond with comments. I think at that point, I just wanted some assurance that somebody was reading and cared. At any rate, after much pestering, whining, etc., I finally installed a little bit of code that told me how many visitors I was getting, where they were coming from, and all sorts of other interesting bits. I don't really look at the statistics too often now - just every now and then. Today I decided to go back and look at the statistics since I started tracking. What I found was rather interesting - I thought.

Since 1 June 2007, there have been 2,992 visits by 507 different people, coming mainly from the United States and the United Kingdom, however, there have also been visits from Ireland, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Australia. In the United States, not surprisingly, most of the visits have come from Alabama, although the state sending the second most visits was New York. Within the UK, most have come, also not surprisingly, from London.

However, some of the more interesting statistics were other ones:

The most popular pages were not the ones I would have figured. More people read the Merstham and Redhill post than any other. The second favorite was the Eiffel Tower picture (Michelle will be proud of that one), and rounding out the top three was the post on Stratford and Warwick Castle. (Here.)

People ended up on the blog as a result of various searches - some were clearly looking for the blog, such as the 31 people who typed in "old dark frog blogspot". However, I find it interesting that in the top 10 search terms that lead people here, three of them were U2 related. Specifically, searches for "adam clayton's house", "bono house dublin", and "bono's brother's restaurant" all resulted in someone looking at the blog. Among the other interesting search terms that somehow got people here were "big slugs", "british teeth", and "pictures of frogs that you can buy in dublin". Umm, right. The best ones, though, were "where in dublin can i get doggy clothes made" and "bono nude on beach". Sorry, folks, you'll have to go elsewhere for that one.

So, thanks to all and sundry for reading. The world wide web, ain't it wonderful?
