About a month and a half ago, we bought a telly. The fact that this is the first television set that I have ever purchased should tell you something about my personal thoughts on television. We originally bought it with the idea that we could watch whatever free television they have over here (none of it is really free, since you have to pay an annual television tax), and use it to watch DVD's and movies. First, without an antenna we couldn't get reception of any stations. (By the way, that means that other than the French cartoons I previously wrote about and a few programs they've watched on the neighbors tellies, the kids have been tellie-less for about four months.) Then, of course, about two weeks after we got it, the DVD player stopped working. We're still trying to get it replaced - but this week we got our Sky installation. (Sky = cable).
This is the first and only time I've had cable since college. I thought it was kind of funny, though, because it feels as though the kids have been trying to make up for lost time on the television. Interestingly, even though they do have some of the same cartoons, the accents are British. I sat down and watched Wales pound Japan in the Rugby World Cup, and Mich immediately started flipping through the music stations. So, that is probably the most exciting development since the prior post. As long as we get 24, I'll be fine, although I have enjoyed watching rugby - the closest thing to American football that I'm going to get here. I usually have to check the scores after I get up on Sunday morning, especially for night games. I'd like to listen to the game on the internet one week, so we'll see if I can get a good game to do that to.
In other news, I won't be doing the DK pdf thing - I thought you could upload your own pictures and comments, but you can't. I will be uploading the pictures from Hever Castle after we get back from church.

You have cable. I can't believe it. Next week, you'll throw out all of your clothes and go on a shopping spree at the mall. If they have malls there.... It's like you're living in opposites. Opposite side of the world, opposite spending life.... If I go to London, I'll probably learn how to iron and vacuum. :-) Love you guys. Be blessed!
LOL. Well - we only have cable because we can't get any other television. Don't think that my frugality has vanished just because I'm here. Ask Michelle.
