Not much going on today. I decided that since tomorrow will be my first day at work, I need to rest and generally take it easy today. Not that I did that much yesterday - I rode the Tube to the National Gallery, which is right in front of Trafalgar Square, and wandered around in there for a while. It's got Rembrandt's self portrait, as well as the lesser known self portrait that he did the year that he died. It also has (momentarily, at least) an exhibit on the Impressionists. While I've never been a particularly huge fan of the Impressionists, it was still neat to see the works by Manet, Monet, Gauguin, and Renoir. I particularly enjoyed the Renoir paintings. Easiest thing to do is go to the link above and see what all they have - I don't want to turn this into a listing of artist names and paintings.
I got lunch at Pret a Manger again, this time, having a Crayfish and Rocket sandwich. I'm not really sure what rocket is, but it was alright.
Afterwards, I headed to the Kensington Gardens to kick back a bit. I was determined to find the statue of Peter Pan, so I found it, then found a little patch of grass and laid down. I actually got a bit of sun. If I had a blanket, I probably would have stayed longer, but since I didn't I got up and wandered the park for a bit, and located the Albert Memorial, which is quite impressive. After that, I headed back to the flat.
Today, I thought I'd head back to the Gardens again, since they were so nice yesterday, but it seems to be a little chillier. However, the weather site says it's 16C, so let's see, 16/5 = 3.1. 3.1 x 9 = 27.9. And 27.9 +32 = 59.9F. I am having to do that math in my head everytime I see the temperature somewhere. For you science geeks, I'm sure that you remember that F = 9/5C +32. For everyone else, now you know what I'm doing. I think Mich had told me a much simpler way of estimating the temperature, but I can't remember what it is at the moment.
Anyhow, I walked down the street and went to McDonald's for some "comfort food", and then decided to head back and lounge around the rest of the day. Interestingly enough, McDonald's is running the Monopoly contest over here. I got the Trafalgar Square and The Angel, Islington pieces.
